Editorial Board: The Editorial Board of JVLC consists of recognized experts in the field, who are responsible for determining the editorial directions of the Journal, handling the review of submitted papers, organizing special issues and recommending papers to the Editor-in-Chief. Authors and Author Responsibilities: Authors can submit papers to JVLC online. For more information please read Author's Guidelines. Publication in the journal is free. There is also no Open Access Fee for authors. For more information please read Publication Details. Papers published in the Journal of Visual Language and Computing are the intellectual properties belonging to the authors or the organizations for whom the authors devote their work. Therefore each and every author is expected to respect the intellectual properties of other authors. Plagiarism as well as self-plagiarism are explicitly discouraged. The author(s) should provide a list of references and source(s) of financial support for the research. All author(s) must have significantly contributed to the research. The author(s) are obliged to provide retractions or corrections of mistakes. Authors shall participate in the peer-review process.
Peer-review process: All papers published in JVLC are subjected to peer-review, including papers recommended by Editorial Board Members. The authors as well as independent experts with detailed knowledge in a certain domain of interest will be invited as the reviewers. Usually three reviewers will be invited. The comments made by the reviewers are sent to the authors for the purpose of improving the paper. Reviewers may also recommend not to accept a paper. All judgments and findings in the peer-review process should be objective. Reviewers should have no conflict of interest or can decline to review a paper. Reviewers should point out relevant published work which is not yet cited. A paper under review and reviewers' comments should be treated confidentially prior to its publication.
Publication Ethics: The Editor-in-Chief of JVLC is responsible regarding the detection and handling of any research misconduct for submitted papers. The Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Office will use state-of-the-art tools to detect plagarism. The reviewers have the responsbility to report plagarism to the Editor-in-Chief. If detected, the said paper will not be published, and the said author(s) will be forbidden to publish papers in future issues of the Journal. If an author discovers mistake(s) in a published paper, the author shall notify the Editor-in-Chief to retract the said paper or correct the said mistake(s). Depending on the severity of the mistake(s), the Editorial-in-Chief may decide to publish corrections, clarifications, retractions and apologies when needed. Since the journal is published in digital form sometimes minor mistake(s) can be corrected directly. Major mistake(s) may require an apology or a retraction. The Editor-in-Chief will make such decisions in consultation with the author(s).
Copyright and Access: When submitting a paper the corresponding author is required to fill out and sign a Copyright Form. The Jorunal is accessible by anyone free of charge.
Archiving: All published issues of JVLC are archived online. This Archive is maintained by KSI Research. KSI Research also keeps backup copy of the Archive. Therefore in case of major catastrophy the Archive can be recovered from the backup copy.
Ownership and Management: JVLC is printed and copyrighted by KSI Research, which is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit company organized specificially for the purpose of research and publication in visual languages, software engineering, knowledge engineering and sentient systems. Name of the Journal: The Journal of Visual Language and Computing is the proud successor of the Journal of Visual Languages and Computing, which ceased publication in 2019. For more information please read the article by Dr. ShiKuo Chang who is the Founding Editor-in-Chief of both the Journal of Visual Language and Computing and the Journal of Visual Languages and Computing.
