VLC 2015 CALL FOR PAPERS
2015 International Workshop on Visual Languages and Computing
http://www.ksi.edu/seke/vlc15cfp.html
(Alternate website: ksiresearchorg.ipage.com/seke/vlc15cfp.html)
Hyatt Regency, Vancouver, Canada, August 31 to September 2, 2015
In conjunction with 2015 International Conference of Distributed Multimedia Systems
http://www.ksi.edu/seke/dms15.html
(Alternate website: www.cs.pitt.edu/~chang/seke/dms15.html)
Organized by Knowledge Systems Institute, USA
SCOPE
Visual languages mediate human and computer interaction.
Advances in commodity hardware and software, including touch-sensitive
surfaces and vision processing systems, are enabling
fundamental enhancements to this mediation through sketch and
gesture recognition. More formal visual languages allow experts
to accurately specify complex systems, such as software architecture
or chemical molecules. A visual language can also encompass
complex human-computer interaction such as navigating a
set of semantically linked videos. Combining aspects of art,
engineering, and science, visual computing involves the design and
engineering of visual interactions and the analysis of these
interactions in terms of semantics, efficiency, aesthetics, pleasure,
emotion, engagement, immersion, collaboration, and culture.
For this year's special theme we request high-quality submissions
on visual languages and visual computing techniques that
enhance digital modeling and fabrication and leverage 3D printing
innovations. In addition to the special theme, we continue
to solicit papers on all aspects and approaches to visual
languages and computing, including interactive visual computing,
computer-empowered visual computing, human-empowered
visual computing, transformation algorithms for visual computing,
and visual languages for visual computing.

SELECTED PAPERS WILL BE PUBLISHED IN A SPECIAL ISSUE OF JVLC
The Journal of Visual Languages and Computing (JVLC),
which is indexed by SCI, EI, DBLP, Scopus and other indexers,
will publish selected papers of DMS/VLC/DET2015 in a
December 2015 extra large special issue of JVLC. The conference will
first publish proceedings available
to authors and conference attendees.
Papers will go through three rounds of reviews (see detailed review plan) so that
selected papers can be further improved to meet the standard of JVLC.
The JVLC special issue will be available both in print and online.
SUBMISSION OF PAPERS
Submissions that address research and development on the above and other related topics are strongly encouraged. All the submitted papers will be reviewed by the international Program Committee members.
Papers must be written in English. An electronic version
(Postscript, PDF, or MS Word format) of the full paper should
be submitted to
https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=dms20150.
When submitting, select the track VLC15
Visual Languages and Computing Workshop.
The paper must include a 200-word
abstract and no more than 8 pages of 2-column
text (including figures and references). All submissions must not
be published or under consideration for publication in a journal
or in a conference with proceedings. Papers will be evaluated
based on originality, significance, technical soundness and
clarity of exposition. Depending upon the results of evaluation, a
paper may be accepted as regular paper (10 pages), short paper
(7 pages) or technical notes (1 page and demo/poster presentation).
